Vital Records of ...

Vital Records of ThomastonOur Vital Records series includes data from early town records as transcribed from images of original documents. Births, Deaths, and Marriages are just some of the records that have been transcribed as part of this collection. Also included in some books are early church records, warnings out, cattle marks, town meeting information and disputes between neighbors.  There is a wealth of information in town vital records and we're extremely proud to be able to share this information with the masses.
As with the Maine Families series, Vital Records books are transcribed by volunteers willing to share their time and passion for Maine genealogical research with others.

About The Book:
The town of Arrowsic is located in Sagadahoc County on an island at the confluence of the Kennebec and the Sasanoa Rivers and was called Arrowseag by the native American Abenaki tribe. The region was settled early after being purchased from the sachem Mowhotiwormet, commonly
known as Chief Robinhood. During the French and Indian Wars, settlers were forced to abandon the area at different times until peace was later restored around 1763.

Arrowsic originally was included in the area which encompassed the town of Georgetown. Over the years Georgetown included other regions which later were set off to form their own towns. Arrowsic was the final town to be set off and was incorporated as the 352nd town in Maine on 17
February 1841. The region was within the jurisdiction of Lincoln County until Sagadahoc County was set off and incorporated on 4 April 1854.
